APEC CBPR system
requirements for Accountability Agents
- Your organisation is subject to the jurisdiction of a
Privacy Enforcement Authority in an APEC CBPR system participating
economy. Currently, there are six APEC CBPR system participating
economies: USA, Mexico, Canada, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore. More economies are expected to
join soon.
In USA, the relevant
Privacy Enforcement Authority is the US Federal Trade Commission.
In Mexico, the relevant
Privacy Enforcement Authority is the Federal Institute for Access to
Information and Data Protection.
In Canada, the relevant Privacy
Enforcement Authority is the Office of the
Privacy Commissioner.
In Japan, the relevant Privacy
Enforcement Authority is the Personal Information Protection Commissioner.
In the Republic of
Korea, the relevant Privacy Enforcement Authority is the Korea Communications
Commission, and the Ministry of the Interior.
In Singapore, the relevant Privacy Enforcement Authority is the Personal Data Protection Commission.
- Your organisation can demonstrate that it satisfies the
Accountability Agent Recognition Criteria.
Use the Accountability Agent Recognition Criteria Checklist to help
you assess whether you satisfy the requirements.
- Your organisation agrees to use the CBPR Intake Questionnaire and the CBPR Program Requirements to assess whether other
organisations are APEC CBPR compliant OR your organisation can demonstrate
that its own procedures meet the baseline requirements of the APEC CBPR
system.

your procedures meet the baseline requirements of the APEC CBPR system.
- Your organisation completes and
signs the Signature and Contact Information form.
